Building Bright Futures: Suncoast Supports LGBTQ+ Youth & Families

At Suncoast Credit Union, we know creating strong communities means supporting the people who live in them. Our LGBTQ+ & Allies Employee Resource Group (ERG) proudly partners with local organizations to uplift, educate, and empower LGBTQ+ youth and families to create real, lasting change.

Partnering with PFLAG Riverview

This year, our ERG teamed up with PFLAG Riverview to help students head back to school prepared and proud. Nearly $200 in school supplies were collected and donated, giving local kids the tools they need to thrive from day one.

In August, we brought our “Raising a Money Smart Kid” workshop to PFLAG families. Sharing simple, practical tips helps our youth build healthy financial habits early (and the kids loved it!).

Since the response to this workshop has been so positive, we’re working on a plan to bring it to more PFLAG chapters across Florida.

Connecting with ARAY Youth

We’ve also been collaborating with All Rainbow and Allied Youth (ARAY), a youth-focused nonprofit in Charlotte County. Through engaging financial literacy sessions, our ERG members have shared real-world guidance on budgeting, saving, credit, and goal setting.

The best part of these sessions is that they’re discussion-based, meaning young participants can ask questions and share their ideas and experiences. And, in turn, our ERG professionals provide personal guidance and encouragement to create an empowering, judgment-free learning environment.

Investing in Children’s Futures

We’ve seen firsthand how opportunities grow for youth and families in the LGBTQ+ community when they have the resources to feel supported in their journeys. Suncoast is beyond proud to play a part in those journeys, and we’re excited to continue our community partnerships to help today’s youth grow into tomorrow’s leaders.

Stay tuned for more updates and events as the Suncoast Credit Union ERG continues to champion inclusivity and support for the LGBTQ+ community.
