Recently, Tampa Electric (TECO) joined community volunteers to assemble and deliver hurricane preparedness kits to seniors and homebound residents of the Tampa Bay area.
Over the course of three days, volunteers packed 1,200 storm-ready kits, which were delivered on Saturday, June 21, during Meals on Wheels of Tampa’s monthly Produce on Wheels (POW!) delivery. This program brings fresh produce to recipients’ doors free of charge.
The preparedness kits include:
- Five days of self-stable food
- Water
- First aid kit
- Small LED flashlight
- County shelter information
- Key resource contact information
- TECO ‘Get Ready’ brochures
All materials were provided in both English and Spanish to ensure accessibility for all recipients.
Tampa Electric is proud to continue this annual partnership with Meals on Wheels of Tampa, helping ensure that vulnerable members of our community are prepared and protected during hurricane season.
